چکیده

A new test system for the detection of plant growth regulating activities was successfully employed. In a screening for inhibitors of the gibberellic acid controlled synthesis of hydrolytic enzymes in embryoless wheat seeds (Triticum aestivum) 160 cultures of ascomycetes and basi diomycetes were tested. In the extracts of two cultures inhibitory activities were detected. From fermentations of a Hypholoma-species (basidiomycetes) 3,5-dichloro-4-methoxybenzyl alcohol \yas isolated as the active principle. Galiellalactone and two other new phytotoxins were isolated from cultures of the ascomycete Galiella rufa. At concentrations of 50 |ig/ml all four compounds inhibited the de-novo synthesis of a-amylases, proteases, and phosphatases. Further investigations on the mode of action revealed, that all four metabolites interfere with early steps of the biosynthetic path ways induced by gibberellic acids. In vivo, the germination of the seeds of several plants was inhibited by these compounds.

Physiological control of exo- and endoproteolytic activities in germinating wheat and their relationship to storage protein hydrolysis.

The effects of gibberellic acid, abscisic acid, cycloheximide, actinomycin D, and cordycepin upon exo- and endoproteolytic activities and storage (gluten) protein hydrolysis in germinating wheat and in incubated embryoless wheat seeds have been studied. Early increases in endoproteolytic activity were insensitive to the addition of gibberellic acid and inhibitors of protein and RNA synthesis. L...

The effect of hydropriming and halopriming on germination and early growth stage of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

In order to study of hydropriming and halopriming on germination and early growth stage of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) an experiment was carried out in laboratory of the Department of AgroNomy and Plant breeding, Shahrood University of Technology. Seed treatments consisted of T1: control (untreated seeds), T2: soaking in distilled water for 18 h (hydropriming). T3: soaking in -1.2 MPa solution...

Effects of alumina nanoparticles on morphological properties and antioxidant system of Triticum aestivum . Ali Riahi-Madvar*, Fatemeh Rezaee and Vahidreza Jalali 2

The negative and positive effects of alumina nanoparticles have been reported for various plant species, while the mechanism that brings about these effects has not yet been clearly understood. Here, the effects of different concentrations of nano-scale alumina on growth and enzymatic antioxidant system of wheat seedlings are investigated. The results show while root growth is affected by the n...

Patterns of starchy endosperm acidification and protease gene expression in wheat grains following germination

Cereal aleurone responses to gibberellic acid (GA3) include activation of synthesis of hydrolytic enzymes and acidification of the external medium. We have studied the effect of the pH of the incubation medium on the response of wheat (Triticum aestivum) aleurone cells to GA3. De-embryonated half grains show the capacity for GA3-activated medium acidification when incubation is carried out at p...
